Is a Tumbleweed a Weed?
Some may say that a weed is just a plant out of place or has not been found to have a use yet and now I would agree with that statement. I grew up in the west and have seen tumbleweeds all my life on both sides of the road. The farmers cuss them, ranchers don’t really care for them but somehow they live on in the minds of others as one of the symbols of the west and of cowboys in particular. Maybe it was cowboys that made the tumbleweed famous. I can’t think of anything else that would have. So I think Hollywood did it and I can sell tumbleweeds because of it. Amazing. We have now sold tumbleweeds for Plays like “A Tuna Christmas”, Movies like “Go..No Go!”, and to Department Stores like Bon-Ton store and Ralf Lauren. Anyway who would have guessed that a person could sell the weeds from their empty lot near by but I guess we proved you can do it. So now that we have proven that tumbleweeds can have a purpose then maybe they are not really a weed at all but a plant that has found its place in life.
So you could say something weird like “Too Weed or not to weed. That is the question?” and it might make sense.
